Oh, how I’ve missed you...
Yearning for the crisp air tinged with a bit of sorrow,
Sad for the shortening days, the fading light.
My skin, once singed by the heat,
Now shielded beneath layers.
Oh, how I’ve missed the scent—
Smoke drifting from far away,
The burning wood signaling it’s time
The snap of leaves underfoot, thirsty for their younger days,
Reminding me I’ve been gone too long.
I hear the brittle break—
The fresh resilience has passed,
And the weight of my soul once fled,
Unready, not strong enough,
I ran to the land of the eternal sun
To distract my gaze, to lighten my mind.
And yet, here I stand,
Having found more of myself, and now missing you…
Resilient now to face the inevitable ebbs.
Seasoned now to be in the dance...
